unlv stands on today. john collier with the company that brokered the deal says he's keeping his eye on a new football stadium. john stater, collier research manager: if they do manage to build a solid stadium - it opens up the possibilities of new stadiums or major changes or championships or major tennis tournaments and things of that matter and of course it im sure it helps retain national finals rodeo who has been looking to expand for a long time unlv officials are also working to use 38 acres of clark county land that is next to their newly acquired property. the county land will connect the university with their 42 acre parcel. unlv also says they have been cooperating with the federal aviatian administration to make sure their project doesnt interfere with procedures at mccarran airport. a group of activists and lawmakers are calling on the department of justice to arrest cliven bundy.... and his family.
the bundys were never prosecuted after their notorious nevada stand off.... and its lead to what's happening in harney county oregon. fox 5's cyndi lundeberg spoke to cliven bundy... and also those leading the charge against him... and has this story. cyndi- nearly two years after the bundy stnad off with the bureau of land management.... reminders like this still remain... but some people say they dont need reminding. these are terrorists... terrorists need to be in prison a group of lawmakers... native americans... and conservationists are calling for cliven bundy... his sons and their militia to be arrested. the paiute tribe says theyre tired of the government's double standard with the bundy's. fawn if native american people would go into a federal building and take it over we'd be dead douglas and the others petitioned the department of justice to intervene... after bundy's son led an effort to take control of federal land in oregon.
here in nevada in 2014. bundy - they did somethng they had to do it has been extreme but the world has been listening those pushing for bundy to be punished say he is guilty of multiple crimes including allowing his cattle to graze on government land... and say he is responsible for the armed confrontations with officers. it is time for the department of justice to actually do something about this fox 5 spoke to cliven bundy about the calls for his arrest... and he says he respects their first amendment rigths to criticize him... but adds his family and their success have helped the people of nevada. very much a success we are standing in the freeest place on earth to bundy the land in nevada... and oregon... belongs live their and not the government. quite worrying and if we're terrorists so what were terrorists the department of justice has not responded to the petition to arrest bundy and his bundy- we the people are enjoying freedom here

"i can't say it's gang-related. he didn't have a gang history here. i have to wait and see what we come up
know, who the victim is and where he's from." the gunman jumped over the wall - and escaped been a full-size white s-u-v. if you have police or crimestoppers at 702-385-55-55. a fox5 exclusive... after months of neighbors - metro police sent a special task force to evict squatters from a northwest valley home. now two of the four suscpects are in custody... they are jesse jordan and jacquese shockley - who police say took over a house and used it as a crime hub. fox 5's miguel martinez-valle was there last night for the swat team raid, he joins us outside the house near decatur and the 215. very different scene here today than what we saw last night... after months of investigating and trying to locate the owner of this house, metro police were finally given
enter and serve an eviction notice to the squatters who have been illegaly living in the home for more than half a year... the suspects they believed inside had a criminal history, so they called the swat team out for extra measure... the operation lasted around an hour, after calling out several times swat entered the house, they found no one inside... neighbors say they heard a lot of cars leaving around 7 o clock at night... but they mentioned that the squatters often left for parts of the day and returned in the middle of the night or in the morning. later in the night two of the suspects came back to the home, one is being charged with posession of meth... police say usually when they respond to these types of squatter cases they come across more illegal activity... " once inside the house was deteriorated not taken care of, we found some illegal weapons in there , we found evicence of illegal drug use, and were investigating now what we believe was a fraud lab being run from inside of this residence." neighbors of the area say the suspects took over the house in june, this isnt the first squatter
neighborhood and they were growing frustrated since it seemed like neither the city nor the police could do anything about it... metro says their biggest obsticle was getting to the original home owner, and having them name themselves a victim so they could get these people out. two of the suspects in custody and two more still out there, neighbors say they dont think their squatter problem is over... i'll have more on their complaints at 6 and you can find the whole story tonight at 10 and 11 police say a law passed last year is helping them take care of the squatter issue. we'll have more on this story - tonight at ten. a vacant commericail building caught fire overnight. fire crews - including four engines - arrived to see smoke coming from the roof... around 3-30 a-m near boulder highway and sahara. the flames were out within twenty minutes. no injuries were reported. the cause of the fire is under investigation.
making it hard on travelers trying to get in and out of las vegas. at last check there were 11 arrivals from the east coast cancelled ... and 7 departures. the faa says snow and ice made traffic to chicago difficult... with flights delayed an average of one hour and 52 minutes. wind was also to blame for cancelled flights into san francisco. we found several travelers at mccarran who have been delayed. "i knew any flight tomorrow was definatly going to be cancelled, but today i actually though we were going to get off. we had somebody who works with us who flew out i think an hour or two before and he was fine, so we were the first flight that got cancelled." and as always ... if you are flying out this weekend .. or picking someone up.. check out your flight schedule online or call your airline before leaving home.

"w're raising awareness and providing solutions for the 22 daily veteran suicides, one of the forms of therapy we are talking about today are the recumbrabt trikes. we use recumbrant trikes as a physical tool to get our veterans out of isolation and help them to avoid depression." it's part of a campaign by the group "forgotten not gone" called "22-damn many". it addressed the grim statistic... that 22 veterans take their own lives each day. the campaign hopes to raise awareness for veterans issue... by cycling 22,222 miles between the first of the year - and veterans day. human remains have been found at the crash site where a taiwanese airman flying an f-16 went down in arizona. the air force student pilot was training at luke air force base... as part of a partnership the unites states has with taiwan. he was on an air- to-air combat training mission when the jet went

-- it was an extremely emotional two-hour funeral service held today at the notre dame basilica in montreal. the church was filled to capacity as angelil was remembered.
from celine and rene's oldest son, rene charles. rene charles says: 15 years is not a long time for a son to get to know his father. you had a busy life. but we were communicating through golf, hocley, poker and smoked meat. celine did not speak or perform at the service today as some had speculated -- however many of her songs were played. tonight at 6:30 on "more access" -- you'll hear more of that touching tribute that rene charles gave to his father. plus -- the memorial being held here in las vegas. i'm more's sean mcallister for fox5 news local las vegas. angelil planned every aspect of his funeral service from the location to the television coverage. the church where the funeral was held today is the same one where rene and celine
another night of police chases on the strip.. it was the fourth night in a row - of filming for the latest jason bourne movie was taking place. and again .. the film crews were shooting more of a chase scene which began at the aria.. went onto the strip ... and north to at least flamingo. the "riviera" which is part of the filming - with its lights temporarily turned back on. the l-v-c-v-a tells fox five - despite speculation - the riviera will not be imploded next week as part of the filming... but will be used in some form by the film production. there's much more coming up in the second half of fox5 news at 5. it's been exactly one month... since the p-u-c's ruling... that made solar power more expensive for customers in nevada. now... a member of congress is aking for the commission to reverse its decision. you know the basic bargain of america is if you work hard, and you do your part, you should be able to get ahead and stay ahead.
